Rain, finally. After months of nothing of significance, after teasing several times with thunder and very brief showers, the heavens opened up yesterday and it poured.

It was glorious.

I was out running errands when the rain started to come down in earnest. My trip to Aldi was postponed for a bit while it poured its hardest, but I was happy to sit in the car reading while the rain pounded down all around me, thunder booming, lightning crackling across the sky, before scurrying into the store during a lull.

Later on, I drove to my favorite park just to sit and listen to the rain while I read. It, too, was glorious. I love the sound of rain on my car roof, love the coziness of that small enclosed space, just me and my book or my knitting, safe and warm in my own little pod while the world outside is drenched.

On the way back, I stopped at the park just north of the house and, while there, witnessed a brief clearing of the gray skies, brilliant sunshine spotlighting the trees off to the east, and best of all, a double rainbow. I’m so glad I didn’t miss that!

Today, it’s much cooler than yesterday, partly sunny, and breezy. I’m taking today as a full rest day–as promised, I got my weights and yoga in yesterday–but hope to venture out sometime this afternoon to simply enjoy the day. Tonight, I have a full dance card with Knitter’s Night Out at the local yarn shop followed by game night at D and S’s. It’s going to be a good day here.

Happy Friday, all! Make it a great day!
